UNAPD has membership at various levels including national, district, sub-county and community level:


At national level

  • District members Associations of People with Physical Disabilities
  • Founder Members
  • Honorary Members
  • Life Members
  • Fellow of the Disability Order (FDO)
  • Trade-based Associations of PWPDs
  • Membership by special subscription

At district level

  • Sub-county members
  • District Association of people with specific category of physical disability
  • Founder Members of the District Association
  • Membership by special subscription

At sub-county level

  • Individual members
  • Community-based groups of PWPDs e.g. production groups of PWPDs, drama/music groups, specific advocacy groups

At community level

PWPDs can form:
  • Production and business groups
  • Special advocacy groups, e.g. for education service, health services, accessibility, PWPDs, rights sensitization, etc.
  • Drama/music groups, local music bands, etc

Rights

Members have a right to:

  • Stand for any elective post at Sub-county, District or national level.
  • Benefit from programmes acquired in the name of the Association at all levels.
  • Access information regarding development programmes/activities of their Association and UNAPD.
  • Withdraw from the organisation

Benefits

Members' benefit from:

  • Information from Sub-county, District, national and international levels.
  • Capacity building in order to gain skills in planning and management of the groups and Associations, lobbying and advocacy, networking and linkage to potential development partners.
  • National programmes of UNAPD.
  • Project support where possible.
  • Procurement of appliances and equipment.
  • Information for referral services.

Obligations

Members are obliged to:

  • Pay membership fee
  • Uphold and promote the Vision, Values and Aspirations of UNAPD.
  • Participate in development activities.
  • Uphold good governance and accountability in the Associations.
